Objeto de la convocatoria:

Visual Entidad de Gestión de Artistas Plásticos (VEGAP), convocan la XX edición del Concurso Propuestas de Ayudas a la Creación Visual.

El propósito de nuestras ayudas es la promoción de la creación artística a través de la financiación económica de los proyectos de aquellos autores que se expresan a través de la creación visual, posibilitando el desarrollo de su trabajo, al hilo de su proceso de investigación y la creación de nuevas obras.

Podrán participar en esta convocatoria los creadores visuales residentes en España que no hayan recibido ayudas de la Fundación Arte y Derecho o de VEGAP en las tres últimas convocatorias de Propuestas.

Presentación de los proyectos:

El plazo de presentación de los proyectos se abrirá el 3 de mayo de 2016 y finalizará el 17 de octubre de 2016.

Para hacer llegar los proyectos puede procederse de la siguiente forma:

Los proyectos se enviarán digitalmente a través de la página web: http://www.propuestasvegap.com, completando la información solicitada en cada uno de los campos del formulario de inscripción alojado y adjuntando la documentación que a continuación se indica:

1.- Fotocopia del DNI o de la tarjeta o permiso de residencia (1 página)
2.- Currículum vitae (1 página).
3.- Una memoria descriptiva de la obra o proyecto creativo que se quiere realizar (1 página).
4.- Calendario de trabajo y presupuesto total del proyecto, con indicación de la ayuda económica que se solicita, adjuntando en 1 página el desglose en el que se indique cada uno de los gastos que se precisen efectuar.
5.- Dossier gráfico con un máximo de 10 imágenes de obra reciente, bocetos o trabajos personales realizados por el autor (hasta un máximo de 10 páginas. Los proyectos de nuevas tecnologías podrán ir acompañados, además, de una url a un link externo).

La extensión de la documentación aportada en el archivo que se adjunte no superará las 15 páginas, incluido el formulario digital. La documentación deberá aportarse en el orden indicado y en ningún caso podrá consistir en el envío de originales de las obras. El formato del archivo deberá ser un pdf con un peso total de 14 megas.

Los proyectos deberán incluirse en alguna de las siguientes categorías:

Fotografía
Diseño
Ilustración
Nuevas Formas de Expresión Artística

Los proyectos se integrarán en la categoría seleccionada por sus autores en el campo correspondiente del formulario de inscripción digital de la página web: http://www.propuestasvegap.com

Podrán presentarse varios proyectos diferentes del mismo autor en una misma categoría, pero no en categorías diferentes. La inclusión de un mismo proyecto en una categoría determinará su exclusión de las restantes.

El cumplimiento de estos requisitos es condición “sine qua non” para la aceptación de los autores que deseen participar, por lo que la contravención de esta obligación conllevará la pérdida del derecho a participar en la convocatoria.

Asignación

La asignación total de la convocatoria asciende a 70.000 euros.

Cada una de las cinco categorías: Artes Plásticas, Fotografía, Diseño, Ilustración y Nuevas Formas de Expresión Artística, contará con una asignación de 14.000 euros, correspondiendo 7.000 euros a cada uno de los 2 ganadores que resulten seleccionados en cada categoría.

En el supuesto de que alguna categoría quedase desierta o no se agotase la cantidad destinada, el importe excedente se repartirá entre las categorías restantes, mejorando la asignación de cada categoría en forma proporcional.

Resolución:

La resolución de concesión de las ayudas será decidida por un Jurado formado únicamente por artistas de reconocido prestigio, nombrado por el Consejo de Administración de VEGAP. La decisión del Jurado será inapelable.

Open Portfolio 2016 for Works On Paper (Bilbao, Spain). Deadline: Aug. 22, 2016

On the occasion of FIG Bilbao 2016, Printmaking and Art on Paper International Fair,
it is made the call for the third edition of OPEN PORTFOLIO, with the firm intention
to give visibility, support, disseminate and promote emerging artistic practices in the
field of unique edition works on Paper.

The purpose and philosophy of Open Portfolio is defined as a promotion,
dissemination and professionalization platform for those emerging artists and also
contemporary art forms. It is conceived as a tool to establish the necessary connexion
between educational level and professional practice of art.

A previous call will take place in September. A maximum of 20 artists
will be selected to participate in the Open 2016 first day . Among those selected,
only eight will take part in the Open Portfolio FIG2016 at the Euskalduna Palace.
The day will consist of an exhibition, with the presence of artists. Each one will have
a 2x3m wall. and a 3x1m table to show his work.

From September 10th until 16, the works will be exposed in the Ensanche building.

Date: September 10.
Hours: 11:00 a.m. to 14.30 p.m. / 17.00 p.m. to 20.30 p.m..

Open Portfolio is aimed not only to emerging artists whose practice focuses on the field
of print and works on Paper, but those who have a major activity in this field as well.

SUPPLIES
Open Portfolio will offer to each participant – free of charge- a horizontal linear space
(table) for the exhibition of his work. The tables (one per artist) will be about 3 meters
long and 1 wide. Also, each table will have a rear wall of 2x3m. to expose the works.

The appointment is September 10 from 11.30 a.m to 14.30 p.m. and 17.00 p.m. to
20.30 p.m. in the Edificio Ensanche’s atrium.
• The works will be transported, placed and removed from the exhibition space
by participants on the dates marked by the organization. It is a professional work
presentation so Open Portfolio will broadcast through the official catalog, official
website and other media, as well as through press releases, the work of the artists
presented.
• It is desirable that the works presented will be covered by insurance; otherwise,
the artist assumes all responsibility for any damage that for reasons unrelated to
FIG organization and Open Portfolio occurred. Works must be in a professional
presentation, duly signed and with their numbered editions and also they must have a
data sheet available to visitors and professionals who request information.
Prices must be properly indicated and can never exceed 200 euros (+ 10% VAT) retail.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION
The Application for the III Open Portfolio must be submitted in a single digital dossier
(maximum 10MB PDF format) with the following information in the order described:

DIGITAL DOSSIER (PDF)
• Name of artist • Artist Statement / CV(maximum 1 page)
• Quality Photographs of the work to be exhibited at Open Portfolio
• Technical details of the works presented indicating title, year, dimensions and
technique
Any dossier which does not comply in time and form, or that does not include all of
the required documentation will not be taken into account by the jury. The organization
reserves the right to request additional information to participants.

DEADLINE
From the day these rules are published until Sunday 22 August 2016. Proposals must be sent by e-mail to the following address: openportfolio @ figbilbao.com and fig@figbilbao.com.
The jury’s decision will be published on the web and e-mailed to artists.

CONDITIONS
1. The organization shall ensure the overall safety of the exposure enclosure during the
course of the event. The organization will not be responsible for each work security during
opening hours to the public; it will be the responsibility of the authors, in any case. The
display material, folders, covers, assembly material, etc., will be provided by the artist.
2. Trade relations are authorized, limited solely to the artist and client, without any intervention
by the organization. The works for sale will not have a price greater than 200 euros (+ 10%
VAT).
3.All artists must assemble and disassemble their presentations and be physically present
during the course of the event. They must also be collaborative and participatory in the
various proposals for dissemination and communication that will take place during FIG
Bilbao 2016.
4. Participation in the III Open Portfolio implies full acceptance of its rules. Any doubt
about the rules shall be decided by the organization. Open Portfolio / FIG Bilbao 2016
may broadcast participants proposals in this program through media, virtual spaces, social
networks, etc. and other supports as text, photographs, videos, etc..
5. Due to the limited time, punctuality is fundamental. Selected artists will be at least one
hour before the begining of the Open Portfolio.

SELECTION COMMITTEE
It is made up of David Arteagoitia, artist and Engraving Professor at the University of the
Basque Country UPV / EHU; Juan Zapater Bilbao Art Foundation Director and Roberto
Sáenz de Gorbea FIG Bilbao’s Fair Director.

OPEN PORTFOLIO AWARD
The organization will award one of the works exhibited during Open Portfolio 2016 based on a criterion of quality, format and projection.
The prize will consist of an exhibition space in Bilbao FIG 2017 edition and two learning
stays; a learning stay in the CIEC Foundation in Betanzos, A Coruña.
The prize may be declared void if the jury considers it appropriate. The jury’s decision is final.

Desde su origen, FIG Bilbao ha apostado por la promoción de los jóvenes valores del arte y del grabado a través de programas como Open Portfolio, dirigido por David Arteagoitia.  Esta tercera edición presenta importantes novedades.

El concurso se divide en dos jornadas: el 10 de septiembre una selección de veinte artistas gráficos expondrán su obra durante una semana en el edificio Ensanche de Bilbao. De esta cita saldrán los ocho artistas que finalmente participarán en la sección Open Portfolio Fair en el Palacio Euskalduna el 19 de noviembre. La Fundación CIEC de Betanzos colabora con un premio en forma de Residencia para el artista ganador. Los destinatarios de esta convocatoria son artistas emergentes cuya práctica se centra en la estampa y arte sobre papel.

Las personas interesadas pueden enviar sus trabajos, hasta el 22 de agosto a openportfolio@figbilbao.com.

Comisart for Emerging Curators. Deadline: Sept. 23, 2016

Call for Applications, 2016

Comisart is a call for applications aimed at art curators under 40 years of age, with Spanish nationality or resident in Spain, who have previously curated at least three exhibitions. Any curators who already have well-established careers will not be accepted.

The three curators selected will receive a grant of 6,000 euros and will benefit from the resources and advice of the exhibitions team from the “la Caixa” Foundation.

Comisart is a two-yearly programme involving three exhibition projects based on items from the “la Caixa” Contemporary Art Collection and the MACBA collections. We are committed to innovative projects, both in terms of interpretations and reflections and also regarding the creative approach and forms used.

The exhibitions will be included in the annual programming of CaixaForum Barcelona and there is also the possibility of them becoming travelling exhibitions, as well as potential collaborations with other institutions. The exhibitions may also include work by young artists embarking on their careers as a complement to items from the “la Caixa” Collection, provided these works already exist and do not form part of another institution’s collection.

Each project will be developed over a period of four months. During the first month, curators will have access to the Collection and to the teams from the “la Caixa” Foundation and MACBA in order to define the project, while all the work to prepare the exhibition will be carried out in the following three months.

KEY DATES

No projects or additional documentation can be presented outside the deadlines established in the rules of the call for applications unless the organisation announces an extension of the deadline specified in these rules.

La Asociación de Fotógrafos Profesionales de España presenta la XXIV edición de los Premios de Fotografía Profesional LUX, cuyo plazo de inscripción estará abierto hasta el 30 de septiembre. Después de batir récords de inscripciones durante los últimos años, los Premios LUX siguen consolidándose año tras año como un referente de la Fotografía en España. La convocatoria está abierta a fotógrafos profesionales con nacionalidad o residencia española hasta el 30 de Septiembre.

Desde 1993 los Premios LUX reconocen las mejores obras fotográficas realizadas por fotógrafos profesionales y siguen creciendo y mejorando gracias a la participación de los fotógrafos, así como al apoyo imprescindible de la industria fotográfica y entidades colaboradoras.

Los premios se dividen en 11 categorías, en las que se valorará la innovación, la adaptación y la aportación a una idea o concepto, la contundencia y la capacidad de comunicación de la obra.

El prestigio de los Premios LUX viene respaldado por la enorme calidad de los trabajos presentados, pero también por un jurado que se renueva año tras año y está integrado por reconocidos profesionales del sector de la imagen y la comunicación.

Two research residencies in Barcelona. Deadline: July 15, 2016

Encura research residency 2016/17

Call for two fully funded research residencies

Hangar Barcelona in association with Curators’ Network is offering two fully-funded one-month-residencies in Barcelona, Spain. They will take place from November 14, 2016 – December 18, 2016 and from January 18, 2017 – February 19, 2017.

The call is free of charge and open to all curators and researchers who currently do not live and work in Catalonia. Deadline for the submission of applications is July 15, 2016, midnight, Spanish time, CEST time zone.

The successful candidates will have the opportunity to work with the artist residents at Hangar Barcelona. They will also have the occasion to research the wider artistic context of Barcelona and Catalonia as well as to establish networks and dialogues with other local and international cultural agents.

Applicants should submit a proposal that fits into the general lines of work of Hangar and Curators’ Network. This proposal should also foresee a collaboration with at least four of the current artist residents of Hangar as well as a presentation of the outcomes in a format other than a classical exhibition.

The selected candidates are expected to realize the suggested project during the residency.
Conditions

Hangar will provide the following for each residency:

In and outbound travel (up to 300 €)
Honorary (1185 € before taxes)
Accommodation (own bedroom in a four-room house located at Hangar residency space)
A working space and internet connection (Please bring your own laptop as no computer will be provided)
A production budget of 400 € per artist (1600 € overall) which will be collectively defined among resident, artists and Hangar production team.
Technical assistance for the activities that the candidates will undertake during their residency.

Curators’ Network will provide the following:

the two successful candidates will get a permanent profile and presentation space at Curators’ Network Database
the blog of the residents will be hosted through the art-spy section of Curators’ Network
the online presentation of the projects of the residents will be hosted and promoted through http://www.curators-network.eu

The successful candidates are required to arrange for their own visa and insurance in advance.

About Hangar

Hangar is a centre for art research and production located in Barcelona, Spain. Hangar’s mission is to support visual artists and other cultural agents during the different moments of their art production processes as well as to contribute to the best development of their projects. Hangar facilitates equipment, facilities, production assistance and a suitable context for free experimentation and knowledge transfer. Hangar is located in the Poblenou neighborhood in Barcelona and in a mid 19th Century that was originally designed for the textile industry. At present, and after the centre was extended to the adjacent warehouses, the buildings used by Hangar cover a total surface of 2,600 m2.

Begira Photo VI Festival Call. Deadline: July 31, 2016

Begira Photo Festival is looking for participants!

The International Begira Photo festival of contemporary photography, which will take place from 20th October to 13th November, has opened its official programme to public participation.

On its sixth edition, Begira Photo Festival opens to the public to focus on a specific theme: The forest. The call is open to all those who wish to participate in a collective photography exhibition.

The organisation will only select photographs directly related to the theme. The selected artwork will be exhibited in large format and included within the official programme of the festival.

Those wishing to participate shall follow the submission requirements listed bellow. The call for applications is open until 31st July. The images shall be sent to: info@begiraphoto.com.

Submission requirements:
1. Participants shall submit a photograph on the theme THE FOREST (JPG format; longest side maximum 1200 pixels; resolution of 72 DPI). For selected photographs the organisation will require a high-resolution copy (minimum 30x45cm with a resolution of 300 DPI).

2. Each image will be named with the participant’s name and surname: TxominEgia.jpg

3. Only one photograph per person.

4. Photographs subject to the rights of a third party will not be admitted. The photographer confirms that the entered photograph is his/her own original work and the photographer is the sole owner of the copyright. The organisation reserves the right to require a signed letter from the participant that authorizes the use of his/her image that the participant will provide in the event of his/her artwork being selected.

5. The organisation reserves the right to reject works that do not reach the minimum quality requirements to be printed and exhibited.

Begira Photo VI Festival Internacional de Fotografía Contemporánea

El festival internacional de fotografía contemporánea Begira Photo, que se celebrará del 20 de octubre al 13 de noviembre de 2016, extiende su programación oficial a la participación popular.

Begira Photo encara su sexta edición realizando una convocatoria pública para seleccionar fotografías en torno al tema de este año: EL BOSQUE. La convocatoria está abierta a todas aquellas personas que deseen optar a participar en una instalación fotográfica colectiva.

De entre todas las fotografías recibidas, que deberán acogerse exclusivamente al tema propuesto, la organización hará una selección para crear la instalación fotográfica de gran formato que será exhibida dentro de la programación oficial del festival.

Todas aquellas personas interesadas en participar deberán hacerlo según las siguientes bases de participación. El plazo para la recepción de fotografías terminará el 31 de julio. Las imágenes deberán enviase a la dirección electrónica info@begiraphoto.com.

Bases de participación
1. Cada participante podrá presentar 1 fotografía sobre el tema EL BOSQUE (imagen en formato JPG, cuyo lado mayor no supere los 1200 pixeles a 72 ppp de resolución. En caso de ser seleccionados se pedirá en alta resolución: mínimo 30×45 cm. a 300 ppp.)
2. Cada imagen deberá ir identificada con el nombre y apellido del participante: Ej. TxominEgia.jpg
3. Sólo se admitirá una fotografía por persona.
4. No se admitirá ninguna fotografía cuyos derechos de propiedad intelectual no pertenezcan íntegramente y sin excepción a la persona participante. La organización se reserva el derecho a pedir una carta firmada a los participantes autorizando el uso de su imagen, que el participante deberá presentar en caso de ser seleccionada su obra.
5. La organización podrá rechazar una obra cuando no alcance los requisitos de calidad mínimos para ser reproducida y expuesta.
6. El 15 de agosto se publicará en la página de Facebook de Begira Photo el listado de las personas seleccionadas y se mandará un correo electrónico a cada una de ellas

VI Photobook Dummy Award RM. Deadline: August 15, 2016
