Easttopics RESIDENCY PROGRAMME booklet online.

Easttopics has launched its third Residency programme booklet for the 2019 Spring/Summer season, picking and gathering actual calls and programmes dedicated to visual and perfomative arts in the Central and Eastern European region

Easttopics is a non-profit initiative launched in 2013, led by young art professionals based in Hungary and Serbia and dedicated to the promotion of the Eastern European contemporary art field. Working as a think tank for the Eastern European art communities, Easttopics is a genuinely interdisciplinary cooperative which goal is to draw the Eastern contemporary art field and the international art scene closer to each other.

Easttopics aims at mapping and providing more visibility to protagonists of the Eastern European art life, should they be artists, art professionals, institutions, events or publications. It also wishes to act as a dynamic platform fostering connections, exchanges, community building, and cooperation for both practice-based and research-based projects on a local, regional, and international level.

This cross-border project takes form as an expanding online website and database focusing on the following countries: Albania, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Ukraine.

Easttopics is also accepting call, residency and programme announcements for the upcoming 2019-2020 Fall/Winter season.

Open Call for Photonic Moments festival in Ljubljana. Deadline: May 19, 2014

International photo contest for evening projections in frames of Photonic Moments festival in Ljubljana

We are proudly announcing international open call for submissions, open to all artists and photographers working in the field of contemporary photography. Selected works and series will be shown in frames of Photonic Moments – Month of Photography festival in Ljubljana as part of evening projections during the opening week of the festival. The projections will take place in the magnificent venue of ZRC atrium in Ljubljana which will host the majority of accompanying programme of the festival.
The seventh edition of Photonic Moments – Month of Photography Ljubljana festival is dedicated to promote, popularise and present local and international developments in the field of contemporary photography. The festival is organised by Photon – Centre for Contemporary Photography.

Evening projections in ZRC atrium will enable participation of artists and photographers who could not be presented on several exhibitions within the festival. Their works will be shown to both, wider audience and professional public. The evening projections are aimed at presenting wide spectre of artistic projects and therefore the jury will primarily look for fresh approaches and topics that reflect developments on the local and global photographic scene. The winner of the contest (selected on the last day of three-day event) will have a chance to exhibit a solo show at Photon – Centre for Contemporary Photography in 2015.

We invite all photographers, artists, art groups and collectives working in the field of contemporary photography to participate, irrespective of age or nationality!
There are no application fees!

Deadline for submission is 19 May 2014

The application must contain:
• portfolio of the applicant and proposal for the projection (containing from 10 to 20 photographs) in PDF or JPG format;
• maximum size of each photo is 5MB;
• description of the project(s) (in Slovene or English language) up to 1000 signs;
• biography of the applicant;
Each photographer can apply with several projects / series. The materials are accepted only in digital form and via designated email.

ESSL Art Award CEE, Austria. Deadline: June 30, 2012

ESSL Art Award for art students from CEE and Turkey

The Austrian institution Essl Museum launches the ESSL Art Award CEE for art students from Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia.

Established in 2005 the ESSL ART AWARD is dedicated to the discovery and support of art students at art academies in Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia, Romania and 2013 for the first time also in Turkey.

The ESSL ART AWARD aims at supporting artists while being in education and offers them an opportunity to present their works in an international museal context. It is crucial for this project to cooperate with the art academies. These institutions are the nucleus and well established places for the training of the future generations of artists.

In cooperation with bauMax the ESSL ART AWARD promotes young art talents in the countries in which the family business bauMax has an active presence. The Award thereby offers a direct access to contemporary art production of Central and South-Eastern Europe, at the very moment of its creation.

Festival Photonic Moments – Month of Photography invites photographers all around the world to submit their works on the Photonic Moments Portfolio Review that will be held in Ljubljana, Slovenia, on June 8th and 9th at the Jakopič Gallery. During two intense days, your work will be evaluated by a team of international and Slovenian curators, festival directors, photo editors, gallery owners and publishers in individual 20-minutes face-to-face appointments. The competition starts with entries of works by internet. The jury will select 30 portfolios to be reviewed from all submitted work. Among those selected, one winner will be chosen by the reviewers on 9 June who will get the opportunity to show his/her work in a solo exhibition!

The prizes for the 2nd and 3rd places winners are annual submissions for Revija Fotografija, Slovene magazine of Photography.

Portfolio reviews are great opportunity to present your work to influential members of the photographic community. It’s an important moment to engage on a critical discussion about a body of a project. Photographers receive critique and advice about their portfolios, with invaluable feedback on their development and also expanding professional network.


Jan Babnik (Slovenia): Jan Babnik is a free lance editor, curator, critic and photographer. He is editor in chief of the Slovenian magazine on photography Fotografija.

Michaela Bosáková (Slovakia)Michaela Bosáková is a curator and project manager of the Central European House of Photography in Bratislava, Slovakia.

Beate Cegielska (Denmark): Beate Cegielska is director of Galleri Image in Aarhus. She has curated numerous group and individual exhibitions and cultural exchanges of Danish and foreign artists since 1990. Among many countries she has curated shows in South Korea, China and India.

Paul Di Felice (Luxembourg): Doctor of Visual Arts, Paul di Felice is in-charge of the Visual Arts Laboratory and Senior Lecturer on Art History and Visual Arts Pedagogy at the University of Luxembourg. He has been one of the two workshop leaders of the annual Art Workshop organised by Casino Luxembourg – Forum d’art contemporain in collaboration with University of Luxembourg, since 1998.

Primož Lampič (Slovenia): Primož Lampič is curator for photography at Museum for Architecture and Design, Slovenia.

Thomas Licek (Austria): Thomas Licek is Managing Director of Eyes On – Month of Photography Vienna. Working as an Art Manager since 1991 he is organizing this event since its beginning in 2004.

Katarzyna Majak (Poland): Editor, curator and artist, Katarzyna Majak is PhD from the Faculty of Multimedia Communication at University of Fine Arts in Poznan.

Fernanda Prado (Brazil): Fernanda Prado is a photo editor, independent curator, journalist and photographer.

Peter Rauch (Slovenia): Peter Rauch is a photographer and lecturer of contemporary and fine art photography at the Higher School of Applied Sciences (VIST).

Katia Reich (German): Katia Reich is an art historian based in Berlin. Since 2012 she is the curator of the European Month of Photography Berlin. Since 2005 she has been the project manager of the Berlin Biennale and KW Institute for Contemporary Art.

Photonic Moments festival is part of European Month of Photography and is organized byPhoton Centre for Contemporary Photography.
