Curatorial Residency at La Galerie, Paris. Deadline: Dec. 2, 2013



Residency dates: 10 April – 11 July 2014
Exhibition dates: 24 May – 12 July 2014
Deadline: application is to be emailed at the latest December 2nd 2013 included.
Each candidate must submit an exhibition proposal which he/she would be able to implement with the help of
La Galerie’s team. The exhibition can be a group show (5 artists maximum), a duo, a solo show…
In addition, the application would be required to:
– Take into consideration the general artistic program of La Galerie
– Have an interest in the French art scene.
To facilitate communication with the team and the public of La Galerie, the curator should speak French or
During the residency, the curator should engage as much as possible with the context of the art centre and
participate actively in public talks and events organised by La Galerie.
The curator should also write an introductory text and accompanying texts on the works for the press release
and the journal of the exhibition.

Applications should contain only 2 attached files in PDF format (maximum total weight: 4 Mo)
The two PDF files should include:
1) The curator’s CV/biography with his/her name, date of birth, address, phone and email, a list of curated
exhibitions and a bibliography.
2) An exhibition proposal including:
– 4 lines which summarise the exhibition project
– a text (maximum 2 pages) explaining the idea of the exhibition project
– a list of considered artists (even if they’re obviously not confirmed at this stage)
– a short text about each considered artist specifying how his/her work relates to the exhibition (5 lines
– one picture (of an art work or exhibition view) for each artist.
In the case of a duo or a solo exhibition, please provide pictures of various works.
– ideas about public events and workshops to be organised during the exhibition.

SFR / LE BAL award for photographers under 30. Deadline: Oct. 28, 2013

The SFR / LE BAL award 2013 for young photography is open to any photographer up to the age of 30, living in Europe. Its purpose is to assist the winner in completing a documentary photography project.

LE BAL is an exhibition space showing the documentary image in its different forms (photography, video, film). It opened in September 2010 in the north of Paris. Its activity revolves around exhibitions, debates and educational programmes, all focused on documentary creation and the implications of an overwhelmingly visual representation of the world, from aesthetic to political.

What to win
The SFR – LE BAL Award for young European photography has an endowment of €10,000.
The project which the winner completes thanks to the award will be shown at LE BAL in the year following its creation (2014).
The winner will be advised in his or her practice by the team at LE BAL (introductions to publishers and curators, internships, lectures, etc.)

How to enter
You have to currently be working on a personal photography project on a theme that connects with the outside world, as opposed to a more personal or purely fictional subject.
You have to register as an artist in the Photo section at http://www.sfrjeunestalents.fr/. Please refer to the PDF in the attached files for all the details.
You also have to send by post a photocopy of your official ID with their SFR Jeunes Talents artist’s name to Le BAL, 6 Impasse de la Défense, 75018 Paris. This must be postmarked no later than Tuesday November 13th 2013 2pm Paris time.

Pour effectuer un séjour de recherche à Paris durant l’année 2012,
l’Institut national d’histoire de l’art (INHA) met à la disposition de
chercheurs résidant hors Ile-de-France, deux défraiements de 500 euros
(remboursement sur justificatifs).

Peuvent candidater : les doctorants inscrits dans une université
européenne ; les chercheurs engagés dans la vie professionnelle
(maîtres de conférences, conservateurs du patrimoine, conservateurs
territoriaux du patrimoine et attachés de conservation), sans condition
de nationalité.

Le dossier de demande comprendra :
un curriculum vitae
une lettre de motivation adressée au Directeur Général de l’INHA,
à l’attention du directeur du département des Etudes et de la

Call for bloggers: The Black Box at Nofound/photofair. Deadline: Sept. 4, 2011

I hereby forward the Call for submissions for The Black Box, at Nofound/photofair in Paris, this fall:

Nofound/photofair, in partnership with the TV channel Souvenirs from Earth, is pleased to announce the launch of the project The Black Box. Located in the heart of the exhibition space of contemporary photography fair nofound/photofair, The Black Box is designed to promote the work of the photo curators the most active on the Internet through multimedia projects (slideshows, interactive exhibitions, etc.).

The Black Box is a 10 sqm booth closed in darkness. Fully equipped with sound and HD video, it is flexible according to the proposed projects.

The programme of The Black Box will be displayed in a loop during the entire time of the fair nofound/photofair.

The TV channel Souvenirs from Earth will broadcast The Black Box on several occasions between November and December 2011. *Schedule available from September 2011.

Featured in the form that suits its best, your project must emphasize the artistic direction of your website or blog. Accepted: slideshows, video sequences, interactive displays, etc. or any other photo projects requiring a HD projector, media player or computer speakers.

Project selection will be made online only, we do not accept files to download. Thank you to upload your project on a streaming website (Dailymotion, Vimeo, Youtube, etc.) and send us the link for selection.

Closing date: Sunday, September 4, 2011.
