European Master of Fine Art Photography
Dates: April 20, 2015 – March 10, 2016

The European Master of Fine Art Photography is a unique program, based on the excellence of its teachers, which include well-renowned photographers, curators and artists such as Martin Parr, Elger Esser, Joan Fontcuberta, Simon Roberts, Andreas Müller-Pohle or Alejandro Castellote, among others, who encourage the students to develop their individual vision in a creative and collaborative environment.

The Master’s proposal is based on the premise that there is a conceptual, European creative identity, which is and must be a primordial reference point in terms of academics, culture, and the art market. The proposal is not, however, closed, but rather, as everything European, an open invitation to diversity and exchange. In this sense, the participation of students from other continents is specially interesting and enriching.

The program methodology is mainly based on workshops with high-level artists and theorists. The students will have meetings with a weekly or fortnightly frequency. In addition, students can benefit from group and individual projects, personalized tutoring and enjoy visits to companies and studios. Regular meetings with faculty staff, professional artists, and visiting critics help the students develop their individual points of view to situate their work within the large theoretical and contemporary visual context.

Ladies and Gentlemen: The Winners of the PHOTOGRAPHY SCHOLARSHIPS at the IED MADRID

We are pleased to announce the following SCHOLARSHIPS from the IED MADRID’s Photography department!

European Master in Fine Art Photography

The first scholarship goes to Nafis Ahmed Gazi from Dhaka (Bangladesh). Nafis was born in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and the portfolio he presented for the contest shows the old part of this city, its many social, political, and environmental challenges. His work documents the constant changes and feels very immediate and close to the people. In his hands, photography is a powerful, dangerous and still highly aesthetic vision of the world that surrounds us. Nafis graduated from Bangladesh International Tutorial High School in 2003 and continued his education at the London Guildhall University in Art & Design. He received a B.A. with Honors in 2008 from Pathshala, the South Asian Media Academy, with his final semester conducted abroad at the Danish School of Media and Journalism. He is a member of VII Photo Mentor Program, under the tutoring of John Stanmeyer.

The second scholarship goes to Klaus Lundi, a young image maker originally from Colombia who is now resident in Hamburg (Germany). Laura’s work is politically and socially engaged and she will take full advantage of the possibility to bring her work in a publishable form during her stay in Madrid.
