Open Call for Commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the Chernobyl Disaster. Deadline: Sept 20, 2015

The Chernobyl Project 2016-2017 – Open Call

Food of War is a Multidisciplinary Art Collective dedicated to explore the relation between Food and War through art. Food of War is a Non-Profit initiative whose aims include creating art and events in order to raise awareness about the armed conflicts around the world, to promote the artists who develop their work around this subject and encourage the use of food as part of the viewer’s experience.

The Chernobyl Project 2016-2017
The Chernobyl Disaster occurred in 1986 during the Cold War and it alarmed the whole Europe about what was safe to eat and drink. Food of War considers of great relevance the consequences of this incident at the table of several European Countries where the radioactive cloud passed or might have had.
As a commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the Chernobyl Disaster, Food of War is developing a touring exhibition project for 2016-2017 that follows the trail of the radioactive cloud over Europe. The exhibition involves artists from Ukraine, Belarus, as well as from other EU nationalities.
Food of War is calling all visual artists (individual/collectives) living and working in Ukraine, Belarus, Germany, Sweden and Ireland to submit proposals for this exhibition. We are not interested in the direct causes of the accident but in exploring how it affected the continent and beyond in terms of consumption of food.
The proposals must include a description of the work (which can be in process or finished), rationale behind the work and a maximum of 3 images of the work. We welcome all mediums and artwork dimensions. Artists/collectives are also required to send a biography with a maximum of 5 images of relevant work or a link to the artists’ website.

Files must be sent as JPEG (low resolution) or PDF to info@foodofwar.org . Deadline ends 20th September 2015.
Selected artists will be notified by 28th September 2015.

Greetings from Ireland Call for Postcards. Deadline: Nov 9, 2014

Ever since The Library Project arrived to its new location in Temple Bar, we have received countless visits by tourists looking for posters, prints, and postcards with images of Ireland. Across from The Library Project sits one of the busiest souvenir shops in the country, offering the largest selection of merchandise about Ireland you can imagine. It is easy to expect that most of these materials perpetuate a particular representation of Ireland as an imagined fairytale land, divorced from its complex reality, lost between the pun and the stereotype. You may think that is what the tourist is looking for, but many visitors come to us seeking something completely different. We want to join the conversation.PhotoIreland is going to produce its own collection of materials, inviting local and international artists to present their personal interpretation of what Ireland is today. The project will fill the 36 pockets of a postcard stand with 36 different images, by 36 different artists. We will produce just as many posters in a limited series, and a set of 10 fine art prints per image will also be made available. From these 36, a further selection of 12 images will make it to illustrate a calendar for 2015.

For a participation fee of €5, all selected artists will receive a copy of the 2015 calendar, a copy of the Greetings from Ireland postcards set with the 36 selected images, and 40% of sales profits from all posters and prints sold with their image. Greetings from Ireland will be launched with a celebration of all the artists selected at The Library Project on Thursday 20th November, 6pm. The deadline for entries is midnight Sunday 9th November.
