Grand Prix Images Vevey and Book Award. Deadline: Feb. 28, 2019

Over CHF 50,000 in creation-support grants and the opportunity to be exhibited at the next Festival Images Vevey in 2020!

Professional artists and photographers, as well as those in training, have until February 28th, to participate to the Grand Prix Images Vevey and the Images Vevey Book Award 2019/2020.

The Grand Prix Images Vevey is a creation-support grant for photography projects. The award, worth some CHF 40,000 (approx. EUR 35,000), enables one artist to develop an original project over a year that will be presented at the next Festival Images Vevey 2020. The grant represents unique support for contemporary creation, with complete freedom of choice over subject and genre

The Images Vevey Book Award is a grant worth CHF 10,000 (approx. EUR 9,000) that supports the creation of a book project which showcases an optimal and original balance between publication format and photographic content. It provides a financial contribution that aims to encourage artists to take risks and to innovate, in order for them to develop a suitable and sophisticated publication format for their photography project.

Grand Prix Images Vevey Jury

L’artiste indienne de renommée internationale Dayanita Singh présidera le jury du Grand Prix Images Vevey 2019/2020, composé d’Emma Bowkett, directrice de la photographie, Financial Times FT Weekend Magazine; de Lesley A. Martin, directrice artistique, Fondation Aperture; de Christoph Wiesner, directeur artistique, Paris Photo et de Francesco Zanot, commissaire d’exposition indépendant.

Ce jury de professionnels de l’image se réunira à Vevey du 3 au 5 mai 2019 pour examiner les projets soumis dans le cadre du Grand Prix Images Vevey et du Prix du Livre Images Vevey.

Grand Prix Images Vevey

Le Grand Prix Images Vevey est une bourse d’aide à la création photographique. Ce prix de quelques CHF 40’000 (env. € 35’000) permet à un artiste de développer un projet inédit en un an pour ensuite le présenter au Festival Images Vevey 2020. Ce concours représente un soutien unique à la création contemporaine avec une liberté de choix du sujet comme du genre.

Images Vevey Book Award

Le Prix du Livre Images Vevey est un soutien de CHF 10’000.- (env. € 9’000) à un projet éditorial proposant une adéquation optimale et surprenante entre la forme de la publication et le contenu photographique. Il vise à apporter un complément financier incitant l’artiste à prendre des risques et à innover afin de donner à son projet photographique la forme éditoriale la plus aboutie et la plus adéquate possible.

EMBARRAT – Festival. Deadline: Mar. 10, 2019

OPEN CALL

The modernist buildings that house the Trepat Museum in Tàrrega, origin of the social and industrial transformation of the lands of Lleida, will be the venue of the third iteration of EMBARRAT – Festival of Contemporary Creation. The main objectives of this event are to disseminate throughout society the concept of art and thought as critical and engaged attitudes, and to incentivize artistic creation and promote cultural heritage.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

The call is open to individual artists or artist groups.
All participants must be adults, but may be of any nationality.
Residents outside the European Union may participate only with audiovisual works.

The works must touch on the proposed theme: “The progress”.
Submissions can consist in artworks of any discipline: video art, performance, photography, audio, installations, illustration, etc.
Participants may submit one work, or a set of works under a single title.

It is the curator’s responsibility to make the final selection of projects and artists and to determine the appropriate exhibition space for each artwork.
In addition to the artistic criteria, the curator will consider the conceptual rigor of each project, its adjustability to the proposed topic (disused) and the feasibility of adapting the artistic proposal to Museu Trepat’s exhibiting spaces.
The artists will assume the cost of the work production.
The festival will assume shipping costs.

PhotoIreland Festival 2019: Call for Proposals. Deadline: Mar. 17, 2019

PhotoIreland Foundation invites individuals and organisations to come forward with proposals for the PhotoIreland Festival 2019.

The year 2019 will see the 10th edition of the PhotoIreland Festival bringing to Dublin an ambitious programme running from May to July. May will see the opening of the main exhibitions, while June will be dedicated to an extended educational programme with activities for all. The fireworks are reserved for July, when PhotoIreland Foundation will open the Museum of Contemporary Photography of Ireland in Dublin city centre, on the 4th July. More details will be released in the coming months, but in the meantime, you can find below information about the calls for proposals for the Open and the Museum Programmes.

OPEN PROGRAMME

If you are planning an event during May-June-July relating to Photography, Visual Culture, Critical Thinking, happening anywhere in Ireland, then join the festival celebrations! We welcome submissions from national and international individuals and organisations. All possible formats for events such as exhibitions, installations, performances, films, videos, talks, workshops, etc. are welcome.

All participants must submit their proposals before the strict deadline. Participant events will be featured in the festival catalogue and on the website, promoted through the festival’s social media, and will receive festival catalogues to distribute during the event. The catalogues are also distributed by us nationwide to key locations.
Strict Deadline: midnight 17 March 2019.

Note that you must have secured a venue for your event or exhibition before you submit – if you are looking for a venue, we always recommend to start by looking at the previous PhotoIreland Festival maps. MUSEUM PROGRAMME

To make 2019 more special, we are opening a call for individuals and organisations to come forward with proposals to be included in the educational programme. There is no fee for submitting proposals, and those selected will receive financial and logistics support.

The Museum of Contemporary Photography of Ireland is a practice based research project run by PhotoIreland Foundation that aims to create the ideal prototype space to actively engage with Visual Culture and Critical Thinking today. Over the next years, the museum will present an evolving model that will publicly investigate experimental and critical propositions in aspects relating to Museology, Curation, Cultural Policy and Arts Management.

The research sets an important departure towards a new arena where Art and cultural practices and their socio-political context can be both enjoyed and examined in a richly participatory way, with the use of contemporary methodologies. This project is part of the Critical Academy ongoing research on ‘Photography in Ireland’.

We welcome proposals towards the educational programme for events that will run between 5-30 July 2019, broadly focused on the aforementioned topics of Visual Culture, Critical Thinking, Museology, Curation, Cultural Policy, Arts Management, as much as those aimed at promoting Visual Literacy and Art skills through active participation and Art making.

COMPETITION DESCRIPTION

Being described as “One of the best photography festivals in the world” (Capture Magazine), the biennial Belfast Photo Festival provided the perfect platform for gaining exposure to an international audience, with previous editions having welcome over 100,000 visitors from all over the world.

Belfast Photo Festival is offering artist’s/photographers the opportunity to exhibit their work in the main Festival gallery alongside some of the biggest names in the field of photography and have their work taken on tour to be exhibited at the 2020 Photo Schwiez (Zurich, Switzerland), with a number also having the opportunity to be featured in the arts magazines Abridged and GUP. The winners will be eligible for a number of awards, including a cash prize of €1,127 (est $1,286 / £1,000).

The theme has been left open to remove any restrictions; submissions must be photographic or lens-based but can include incorporations of other art forms with the photographic medium (i.e. performance, painting, sculpture, music, literature etc).

Individuals and collectives are welcome to apply; individuals should select and enter between 1 and 15 photographs from a particular series or body of work AND/OR submit their Photo-book for exhibition by providing a link to a single PDF (stored on for example: Google Drive or Dropbox)

(Note: You can submit both a photo-book and photographs of the same project, but a fee will need to be paid for both. If submitting only a Photo-book and not photographs, it will be your photo-book that will be selected for presentation and not photographic prints for exhibition)

Collectives are also welcome to apply; as a collective, you can submit up to 15 photographs (a €22 / €29 submission fee will apply for every 15 images submitted)

PRESS EXPOSURE

Each year our Open Submission award-winners receive international press coverage from publications and media outlets around the world. Winners, finalists and entrants have been featured in major publications such as, The Guardian, TIME Lightbox, Foam, The Financial Times, British Journal of Photography, The Telegraph, among many other national and international outlets. This kind of press exposure can lead to viral, global recognition of your work.

SUBMISSIONS

This year the Open Submission will be hosted by Picter. All submissions must be made via Picter.com. After registering on Picter, please ensure you follow the instructions outlined carefully otherwise your submission may not be valid. Submissions cost €22 / €29*

Odesa Photo Days Call. Deadline: Dec. 16, 2018

“Standoint” exposition is a combination of authors’ visions of versatility of the world and multiple ways for comprehending reality. We accept photo series of any stylistics: documentary, reportage, fiction, fantasies. We proritize author’s story and originality, expression integrity.

Terms of participation

Each author can only submit one photo series for the contest.

  • PDF format, maximum pages – 10, number of pictures – unlimited, short text describing the series & installation proposal (tech requirements).

LES BOUTOGRAPHIES IS A FESTIVAL OF CONTEMPORARY CREATIVE PHOTOGRAPHY

Open to all photographers living in Europe.

The criteria for selection by a jury of professional in the photographic field are a height creative level, originality and a coherent personal vision.

  • TWO SECTIONS WILL BE PROGRAMMED

The official selection (on the walls) and the selection Jury Projection (in projection).  You don’t need to choose. If you are selected by the Jury, your work will automatically be assigned to one of these two selections.

  • THREE PRIZES ARE GIVEN DURING THE FESTIVAL

For the official selection
The Jury prize, for a total of 1000 € + the purchase of photos by the Town of Montpellier for a value of 2500€
The Exchange prize (an exhibition at the festival Fotoleggendo in Rome)
The Public prize (help with the production of an exhibition by our partner Photon, professional photo lab).
