The EPSON International Pano Awards. Deadline: July 10, 2016

The 7th EPSON International Pano Awards is dedicated to the craft and art of panoramic photography.

Advances in digital photography and editing software has resulted in an ever-increasing rise in the popularity of image stitching, especially in the panoramic format. Panoramic film photography also remains alive and well.

The Epson International Pano Awards showcases the work of panoramic photographers worldwide and is the largest competition for panoramic photography.

The Awards invite you to submit panoramic images in the following main groups:

Open Awards (Nature / Built Environment)
Amateur Awards (Nature / Built Environment)
VR/360 Awards (Open)

2016 TOTAL PRIZE POOL WORTH OVER $60,000USD, INCLUDING $25,000 CASH.

Research residency in Sapporo (Japan). Deadline: July 3, 2016

S-AIR in association with Curators’ Network is offering a fully funded residency opportunity for curators in Sapporo, Japan, from August 9 – September 13, 2016 (maximum stay 30 days, minimum 20 days).

The call is free of charge. Deadline for the submission of applications is July 3, 2016, midnight, Madrid, CEST timezone.

The successful candidate is expected to research and write around the local art scene of Sapporo, to learn about Japan and to establish networks and dialogues between local and international artists.

  • The call is open for curators who work with all kinds of disciplines within the context of contemporary visual and fine arts. There is no age limit. Applicants should neither hold Japanese nationality nor reside in Japan, and should be able to exercise a degree of autonomy and self-reliance.
  • The call seeks especially for professionals who work with a high level of excellence, but do not yet have a consolidated international career, as one of the primary goals of Curators’ Network is to promote art-professionals who are still not well known in a larger international context.
  • Applicants should have at least a moderate level of spoken English or Japanese, and should feel comfortable engaging in discussions in one of these two languages.
  • Applying curators should thoroughly research about S-AIR and Curators’ Network and submit a proposal demonstrating in which line(s) they would like to research whilst in Sapporo.

Dates, deadlines

Deadline: Applications should be submitted online NOT LATER THAN Sunday July 3, 2016 at Midnight [Madrid, CEST].

Selection: The resident will be chosen on the basis of the submitted applications. A shortlist will be made by a jury of the management board of Curators’ Network. The final selection will be made by the selection committee at S-AIR.

Notification: The successful candidate will be notified byWednesday, July 13, 2016.

Residency: Up to 30 days between August 9 and September 13, 2016. The applicants can propose their preferred time frame, the minimum stay is 20 days. The final dates for arrival and departure to and from Japan to be agreed between S-AIR and the resident.

Call for two fully funded research residencies

Hangar Barcelona in association with Curators’ Network is offering two fully-funded one-month-residencies in Barcelona, Spain. They will take place from November 14, 2016 – December 18, 2016 and from January 18, 2017 – February 19, 2017.

The call is free of charge and open to all curators and researchers who currently do not live and work in Catalonia. Deadline for the submission of applications is July 15, 2016, midnight, Spanish time, CEST time zone.

The successful candidates will have the opportunity to work with the artist residents at Hangar Barcelona. They will also have the occasion to research the wider artistic context of Barcelona and Catalonia as well as to establish networks and dialogues with other local and international cultural agents.

Applicants should submit a proposal that fits into the general lines of work of Hangar and Curators’ Network. This proposal should also foresee a collaboration with at least four of the current artist residents of Hangar as well as a presentation of the outcomes in a format other than a classical exhibition.

The selected candidates are expected to realize the suggested project during the residency.
Conditions

Hangar will provide the following for each residency:

In and outbound travel (up to 300 €)
Honorary (1185 € before taxes)
Accommodation (own bedroom in a four-room house located at Hangar residency space)
A working space and internet connection (Please bring your own laptop as no computer will be provided)
A production budget of 400 € per artist (1600 € overall) which will be collectively defined among resident, artists and Hangar production team.
Technical assistance for the activities that the candidates will undertake during their residency.

Curators’ Network will provide the following:

About Hangar

Hangar is a centre for art research and production located in Barcelona, Spain. Hangar’s mission is to support visual artists and other cultural agents during the different moments of their art production processes as well as to contribute to the best development of their projects. Hangar facilitates equipment, facilities, production assistance and a suitable context for free experimentation and knowledge transfer. Hangar is located in the Poblenou neighborhood in Barcelona and in a mid 19th Century that was originally designed for the textile industry. At present, and after the centre was extended to the adjacent warehouses, the buildings used by Hangar cover a total surface of 2,600 m2.

Begira Photo VI Festival Call. Deadline: July 31, 2016

Begira Photo Festival is looking for participants!

The International Begira Photo festival of contemporary photography, which will take place from 20th October to 13th November, has opened its official programme to public participation.

On its sixth edition, Begira Photo Festival opens to the public to focus on a specific theme: The forest. The call is open to all those who wish to participate in a collective photography exhibition.

The organisation will only select photographs directly related to the theme. The selected artwork will be exhibited in large format and included within the official programme of the festival.

Those wishing to participate shall follow the submission requirements listed bellow. The call for applications is open until 31st July. The images shall be sent to: info@begiraphoto.com.

Submission requirements:
1. Participants shall submit a photograph on the theme THE FOREST (JPG format; longest side maximum 1200 pixels; resolution of 72 DPI). For selected photographs the organisation will require a high-resolution copy (minimum 30x45cm with a resolution of 300 DPI).

2. Each image will be named with the participant’s name and surname: TxominEgia.jpg

3. Only one photograph per person.

4. Photographs subject to the rights of a third party will not be admitted. The photographer confirms that the entered photograph is his/her own original work and the photographer is the sole owner of the copyright. The organisation reserves the right to require a signed letter from the participant that authorizes the use of his/her image that the participant will provide in the event of his/her artwork being selected.

5. The organisation reserves the right to reject works that do not reach the minimum quality requirements to be printed and exhibited.

Begira Photo VI Festival Internacional de Fotografía Contemporánea

El festival internacional de fotografía contemporánea Begira Photo, que se celebrará del 20 de octubre al 13 de noviembre de 2016, extiende su programación oficial a la participación popular.

Begira Photo encara su sexta edición realizando una convocatoria pública para seleccionar fotografías en torno al tema de este año: EL BOSQUE. La convocatoria está abierta a todas aquellas personas que deseen optar a participar en una instalación fotográfica colectiva.

De entre todas las fotografías recibidas, que deberán acogerse exclusivamente al tema propuesto, la organización hará una selección para crear la instalación fotográfica de gran formato que será exhibida dentro de la programación oficial del festival.

Todas aquellas personas interesadas en participar deberán hacerlo según las siguientes bases de participación. El plazo para la recepción de fotografías terminará el 31 de julio. Las imágenes deberán enviase a la dirección electrónica info@begiraphoto.com.

Bases de participación
1. Cada participante podrá presentar 1 fotografía sobre el tema EL BOSQUE (imagen en formato JPG, cuyo lado mayor no supere los 1200 pixeles a 72 ppp de resolución. En caso de ser seleccionados se pedirá en alta resolución: mínimo 30×45 cm. a 300 ppp.)
2. Cada imagen deberá ir identificada con el nombre y apellido del participante: Ej. TxominEgia.jpg
3. Sólo se admitirá una fotografía por persona.
4. No se admitirá ninguna fotografía cuyos derechos de propiedad intelectual no pertenezcan íntegramente y sin excepción a la persona participante. La organización se reserva el derecho a pedir una carta firmada a los participantes autorizando el uso de su imagen, que el participante deberá presentar en caso de ser seleccionada su obra.
5. La organización podrá rechazar una obra cuando no alcance los requisitos de calidad mínimos para ser reproducida y expuesta.
6. El 15 de agosto se publicará en la página de Facebook de Begira Photo el listado de las personas seleccionadas y se mandará un correo electrónico a cada una de ellas
