The prize is aimed at photographers whose work engages with the African continent and/or a diaspora of an African country, and consists of global exposure at major international photography exhibitions such as at Image Afrique in Basel, LagosPhoto Festival in Nigeria, Festival Internacional de Fotografia de Cabo Verde in Mindelo or Eyes On in Vienna. The prize also comprises an artist residency for all five winners.
