Warwick Stafford Fellowship 2016/17. Deadline: Nov. 14, 2016

Call for applications: The Warwick Stafford Fellowship

Northumbria University are accepting applications to the Warwick Stafford Fellowship 2016/17 until 5pm Monday 14 November 2016.

Early-mid career practitioners in Fine Art are invited to apply for the fellowship which offers a £20,000 bursary to the chosen candidate.

In addition to the bursary Northumbria will provide the successful Fellow with:

• A studio space in the BxNU Institute for Contemporary Art at BALTIC 39

• Technical Support

• Participation in an environment of postgraduate and PhD art researchers

• Access to leading academics and internationally renowned artists

The Fellowship will offer an early-mid career artist a structured opportunity to advance their practice and research and engage with a stimulating community of professional artists, students, fine art researchers and the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art partners. Support and development will be designed to meet the needs of the individual fellow. The artist will participate in and contribute to the research environment at BALTIC 39 whilst developing a body of new work that advances their practice-led research. New work will be accessible during public events at the BxNU Institute and will form a core part of the exhibition programme in Gallery North, the Faculty’s prestigious venue for contemporary art.

The fellowship will culminate in a solo exhibition with publication.

The current 2015/16 fellowship is held by Stuart Tait. Details of Stuart’s work, along with past Fellows, Eleanor Wright 2012/13, Luke McCreadie 2013/14 and Laurence Kavanagh 2014/15 can be seen on the BALTIC 39 website.

During selection the panel will look to identify applicants whose practice and research will benefit most from the opportunities offered.

Photographic Social Vision Scholarship. Deadline: June 10, 2016

New scholarship to promote documentary  photography and investigation related to journalism and social issues, rewarded with 8.000 euros and and exhibition. Only for residents in Spain🙂

Beca de ámbito nacional para fotógrafos y periodistas que nace en 2016 en conmemoración del 15º aniversario de la Fundación y fruto de la urgente necesidad de apoyar el fotoperiodismo de investigación: un ejercicio necesario en el desarrollo de sociedades democráticas sanas. Photographic Social Vision abre una convocatoria para que profesionales del sector, fotógrafos, expertos en investigación y alumnos de periodismo con experiencia propongan temas a investigar. Un jurado experto evaluará las propuestas recibidas y otorgará 8.000 euros al profesional o colectivo escogido para llevar a cabo su investigación durante los 9 meses siguientes. El proyecto ganador de la beca debe ser inédito y de interés social, y se valora de los participantes su experiencia previa y calidad, rigor, así como su capacidad de ejecutarlo. El resultado de la investigación verá la luz en formato expositivo en la programación del festival DOCfield el año siguiente.

El trabajo a realizar deberá contar con las siguientes características formales: – Un texto (castellano o catalán) de 15.000 caracteres con espacios (mínimo). – Una serie fotográfica 30 imágenes (mínimo).

Medienkunst-Stipendien 2016: Bewerbungsfrist endet am 29.2.
Ermöglicht durch die Stiftung Niedersachsen vergibt das Edith-Russ-Haus wieder drei Stipendien zur Förderung der künstlerischen Arbeit im Bereich der Medienkunst.

Es handelt sich um drei Produktions- und Aufenthaltsstipendien zu je 10.000 Euro,  mit denen ein breites  Spektrum der Medienkunst gefördert werden sollen. Die Bewerbung ist nur online auf www.edith-russ-haus.de/stipendien möglich.

Media Art Grants 2016: Application deadline is 29 February

Supported by the Foundation of Lower Saxony, the Edith-Russ-Haus offers three grants to enabling the production of new art projects in the field of Media Art. The Edith-Russ-Haus seeks to support artists working with a wide range of media from video to sound or audio-visual installations.

Deadline for photography stipend at IED Madrid extended to Jan. 11, 2016

THE DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED UNTIL JANUARY 11. So if you have not sent you portfolio, now is the moment!!

The 6th edition of the European Master of Fine Art Photography at IED Madrid will start in April 2016. As every year, we are looking for two exceptional students to join the course with a stipend, which covers 70% of the tuition fees (a 50% of the total, which means six thousand Euros, instead of twelve). The stipend is given to exceptional talents, who are willing to lead the group and help the other students grow. We have had some very very talented winners for this grant in the last years, such as Duarte Amaral Netto, Alena Zhanderova, Jorge Fuembuena, Nafis Gazi, Nikita Pigorov, and Yutaka Nozawa. The winners will be announced live at the Design Your Day event (Open Day of the IED Master Madrid) and will be published on www.iedmadrid.com.

 

 COMPETITION RULES
  1. People of any origin or nationality can take part.
  2. The scholarships are awarded on a discretionary basis, based on the documentation received and the development potential of the candidate. The pre-selected applicants will be contacted for a brief interview in person, by telephone or skype.
  3. The European Master in Fine Art Photography is given in English. There are some activities, case studies and lectures which are given in Spanish with simultaneous translation. A medium-high level of English is required.
  4. Dynamics of the competition: the participants will have to fill out the competition entry form, attaching their curriculum vitae, portfolio and a motivation letter.
  5. PRIZE. Two scholarship covering 70% of the tuition fees, equivalent to 6,000 euros.The winners must pay the course registration fee (€4,000) + 30% of the tuition fees (€2,500).
  6. In no case are the scholarship amounts repayable in cash.
  7. To receive the scholarship it is ESSENTIAL to enrol and pay the registration fee within a period of 15 days starting from 14th of January, 2016 the date of the announcement of the winners.
  8. Rules. The winner must be aware of and observe the rules contained in the general regulations of the IED Madrid, and accept and sign the specific regulations for scholarship holders within a period of a week from the announcement of the awarding of the prize.
  9. The winner must study the whole of the Master in the IED Madrid, and will lose the scholarship if he/she transfers to another centre.
  10. 90% minimum attendance at classes.
  11. The scholarship holders must actively participate in all the special and multidisciplinary projects proposed by the school: presentation events, supervised competitions and workshops.
  12. The scholarship holders must actively participate in the documentation of the Master activities, maintenance of the blog, description of journeys, workshops, lectures, etc.
  13. The Master course will not take place if the minimum number of students is not reached. This will mean the loss of the scholarship.
  14. Refusal to do the course during the official announcement of 2016 will give rise to the loss of the scholarship.
  15. Failure to comply with any of the obligations described will mean the loss of the scholarship.
  16. The scholarship holders give their consent to their name appearing in the Newspoint bulletin and other promotional materials of the IED.
  17. The participation period ends on the 8th January, 2016 at 18:00 h, Madrid time.
  18. The judges’ decision will be announced on the 14th of January, 2016 at 18:00 h, Madrid time, during the Design Your Day event (Open Day) and through iedmadrid.com.

The Lucie Scholarship Program. Deadline: November 30, 2015

The Lucie Foundation is proud to offer three cash grants to support the work of emerging photographers – one $2,500 scholarship with an open theme and two $1000 scholarships for photographers working in the fields of Fine Art or Documentary/Photojournalism.

$2,500 Emerging Artist Scholarship

This scholarship is open to all genres of photographic work and will be given to an individual to create or continue work on a specific dynamic project.

Photo Taken $1,000 Emerging Scholarship

This scholarship will be given to an individual to create or continue a project focused on telling an existing story through a documentary or photojournalism approach.

This scholarship will be given to an individual to create or continue a project focused on creating a story through a conceptual Fine Art approach.

-250 Word Description of your project

-Your Plan for completing the project (i.e. how you intend to approach the project and how you intend to use the scholarship money)
