INTERN. ONLINE PF REVIEW, FOTOBIENNALEN’18. Sept., 2018

A new Danish biennial for contemporary photography and lens-based art, Fotobiennalen 2018 will focus on the post-photographic image and photography’s expanded field.

Founded in 2016, Fotobiennalen is a collaboration between Galleri Image in Aarhus, Brandts in Odense and Fotografisk Center in Copenhagen. With exhibitions in all three cities, the opening of the biennial will take place over three days – in Aarhus on August 29th, Odense on August 30th and in Copenhagen on August 31st.

As a major part of Fotobiennalen, an international symposium will be held in Copenhagen followed by this year’s new addition – a month of online reviews organized by Portfolio Dialogue.

Date: September 1 – 30, 2018.

THE LOS ANGELES CENTER OF PHOTOGRAPHY ANNOUNCE THE FOURTH ANNUAL PORTFOLIO REVIEW. JULY 20-22, 2018.

The Los Angeles Center of Photography is pleased to announce its Fourth Annual Portfolio Reviews! at the EXPOSURE WEEKEND 2018.

The weekend will be filled with reviews, workshops, seminars, and networking events. The dates are Friday – Sunday, July 20-22, 2018. This year’s event will be held entirely at the beautiful Hotel MdR, a Doubletree by Hilton, in Marina Del Rey, CA. Reviews are 20 minute face-to-face meetings with gallery owners, photo editors, museum curators, publishers and other photo professionals.On Thursday, July 19, 6-8 pm, EXPOSURE WEEKEND 2018 will kick-off with LACP’s Fifth Annual Members’ exhibition opening reception at the Los Angeles Center of Photography. The show is juried by Catherine Couturier, the owner and director of the Catherine Couturier Gallery.

On Friday, July 20, 6-8 pm, EXPOSURE WEEKEND 2018 will host a Portfolio Walk. This event will be open to the public and anyone participating in the portfolio reviews can show their work. This will be a fun night and a chance to meet reviewers and see the work of your fellow photographers.

Portfolio Reviews are sold in blocks of 5 or 8 reviews and will be filled on a first come, first served basis. After registering for your reviews, you will be contacted to submit your reviewer preferences in order from 1-15, 1 being who you would like to see the most. The date you register holds your place in line and priority is given to those who register early. Schedules will be released by early July.
*Single Reviews will be released in July, only if there is space available.

1/Each selected photographer will have 8 meetings: 4 of its preference and the other 4 will be chosen randomly 

2/ The photographers have to submit at the TransEurope Webplatform, http://www.transeuropephoto.eu (after paying the pre-registration cost of 20euros and creating a user’s account) one series of work of 15 photos the most. 

We recommend you submit one series of work. 

However, you may submit two series, but in total the photographs can not be more than 15.

Transeurope is a new European platform addressed to emerging or mid-career, professional photographers and visual artists. INDIAN PHOTOGRAPHY FESTIVAL – HYDERABAD. DEADLINE: MAY 5, 2018.

The Indian Photography Festival (IPF) – Hyderabad, a Not-For-Profit initiative of Light Craft Foundation, is an international photography festival, showcasing a wide range of photography from India and around the globe with a series of events, including talks and discussions, portfolio reviews, book launches, screenings, workshops etc. The IPF creates a platform for the professional and aspiring photographers, the photography lovers and the public where the festival promotes the art of photography at the same time address the social issues through the medium of photography.

The Indian Photography Festival – Hyderabad announces the Open Call inviting photographers from all over the world to submit their works for the 2018 exhibitions. The Festival is also accepting submissions for its Photobook exhibition.

Bringing the best of photography to Hyderabad each year, the IPF 2018 will take place from 6th September – 7th October, at the beautiful State Gallery of Art – Hyderabad. The festival showcases a wide range of photography across all genres from around the globe with a series of events, including talks and discussions, portfolio reviews, screenings, workshops etc. The 2017 edition presented works by 500 established and emerging artists from 40 countries.

Submission Guidelines; Are open to photographers, curators, collectives, archives, galleries and organizations from around the world.

Transeurope Workshop Zagreb. March 17, 2018

This hands-on seminar is addressed at artists working with visual narratives through any lens based media, wishing to learn more about the possibilities of publishing, exhibiting and other ideal opportunities for outputting work. Participants are requested to have a project completed or close to completion ready to be distributed, and they can expect to leave with a solid plan at the end of the seminar.

This workshop is part of Transeurope, a new European platform for professional photographers and visual artists to share, learn, interact and develop their work internationally. The scope of Transeurope is to facilitate access to professional opportunities as well as to create the conditions for greater transnational circulation of their works.

From January to March 2018, preparatory portfolio workshops are going to take place in 14 countries at international cultural and photography venues. Following on from this from May to June 2018, three portfolio reviews will be held in Madrid, Athens and Helsinki where more than 60 portfolio reviewers and 200 photographers/visual artists are expected to participate. The program will include seminars and workshops, conference and cultural visits shaping an experience of professional training for photographers.

After the closure of the portfolios, a jury will select 30 works that will be part of three group exhibitions (September 2018-November 2019) and will be also featured in the accompanying printed magazine/publication and the web platform will be a data base for consulting with more than 300 experts, artists and art centers, etc.

Transeurope is co-organized by the Fundacion Contemporanea-PhotoEspaña in Madrid, The Finnish museum of Photography in Helsinki and Euromare NPO in Athens. Among its founders the project has come to life with the support from the European Commission, the Creative Europe Culture-Educational, and the Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency.

Prix Elysée supporting artistic production in the field of photography. Deadline: March 4, 2018

Now in its third edition (2018-2020), the Prix Elysée is a prize supporting artistic production in the field of photography. It offers financial help and curatorial guidance to artists with a passion for photography and books, so they can take a decisive step in their career. Eight nominees selected by the museum will receive a contribution of CHF 5,000 towards the initial presentation of a new project in the nominees’ book published for the occasion. The winner, chosen by an international jury, will receive CHF 80,000 to produce the project and publish a book.

Dans sa troisième édition (2018-2020), le Prix Elysée est un prix de soutien à la production dans le domaine de la photographie. Il offre une aide financière et un accompagnement muséal à des artistes passionnés par la photographie et le livre, afin qu’ils puissent franchir une étape décisive dans leur carrière. Huit nominés sélectionnés par le musée reçoivent une contribution de 5’000 CHF en vue d’une première présentation d’un projet inédit dans le livre des nominés, publié pour l’occasion. Le lauréat, choisi par un jury international, reçoit 80’000 CHF pour réaliser son projet et publier un livre.
