As so often happens, this call for a residency program in Valencia is only in Spanish, even if it is “open to artists of all nationalities”.

Requirements: You have to have finished your studies (in Photography, Design, Musical Production, Performing Arts or Video) in 2011/12, and you have to be less than 35 years old, that is the main criteria. The grant is for 3000 Euros and the residency is for 3 months.

Have a look at the call and good luck.

C/Juan Verdeguer, 24 46024 Valencia.

Deadline for application: Monday 4 March 2013
This new residency at Gasworks aims to support the development of art practices that might not normally thrive within existing residency models.

Applicants are invited to propose a series of exploratory works with public outcomes. We are looking for experimental practices, innovative and experimental approaches to contemporary performance, and proposals that question contemporary understandings of these terms.

With this new model, the residency can be less studio-based with process instead taking precedent, in the form of a series of ‘events’ or public outcomes, illustrating stages of work-in-progress. The resulting works could take the form of interventions, community or socially engaged projects, performances, workshops, ephemeral works, happenings, lectures, presentations, theatrical productions or other event-based activities.

Application

The residency is open to non-UK based contemporary visual artists, including those with curatorial practices, working in any medium.

Applicants working in pairs or small groups may apply, but please note that the residency provision covers the costs and space for one artist to undertake the residency, so any extra financial support required will need to be secured by the applicants themselves.

Applying artists should have a good level of spoken English, and should feel comfortable engaging in artistic discussions in English.

Before applying, please read the Information and Guidelines for application, downloadable here.
Applications should be emailed to:

SCREEN CITY FESTIVAL

Call for short video and animation (max 5 min)

Shaping Public Space. Moving Cityscapes
October 25th – November 2nd – 2013
Stavanger, Norway

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: March 1st 2013

http://www.screencity.no

*** We are looking for Video art / animation / visualization: short (max 5 min) and presentable without sound to be screened in shop windows or on outdoor facades in public space. ***

Screen City is dedicated to the moving image presented in public spaces, on the city`s facades, shop windows and urban venues, enlightening and changing the vision of the urban context of Stavanger. The program will experiment with the reshaping of public space through Media Art, presenting a program of video art, animation, experimental short films, creative data visualizations, projection mapping and participatory urban media interventions.

The city of Stavanger is currently going through a rapid city development meeting challenges of gentrification and conflict of interests. Our point of departure, for both content production and as sites for screenings are the many areas with development potentials currently in the middle of an urban transformation, which we think need careful identity and community building. How can artistic interventions guide and support reflection on this process by giving voice to different parties and ideas? What fears are there and what kind of city do we dream of and want to live in?

We invite artists and filmmakers to reclaim the city, challenge the concept of public space and use it as canvas for story telling urban visions. Lets rethink, imagine, visualize, animate, transform cityscapes and activate Stavanger’s neighborhood through the moving image.

CURATORIAL CRITERIA
We especially welcome works that explore issues along these lines:
– Inspiring innovation around the artistic expression through moving image, in its relation to public space and cityscapes
– Enlightening the future vision of the urban context of Stavanger
– Creating spaces for joint experiences and formation of Identity and a living local memory
– Creating public awareness by criticism, reflection on processes of urban development
– Revealing a strong message to create a process of exchange and discussion

Application deadline: March 20, 2013

The Academy of the Arts of the World is a unique, Cologne-based institution founded in 2012 with the aim of fostering inter- and transcultural dialogue between the arts.

As a dynamic and interdisciplinary, albeit non-curricular platform, the Academy engages with issues of contemporary global culture and politics such as the trans-border movement of people, aesthetic responsibility, hospitality, non-Western, pre-modern art, concepts and practices. Bridging local and global perspectives, the Academy sets out to initiate critical debate and to create spaces of possibility for diverse aesthetic communities.

The Academy is constituted by an assembly of visual artists, musicians, choreographers, theatre directors, filmmakers, writers, curators and other cultural producers from different artistic backgrounds and geographical locations.
