We would like to kindly remind you that we are slowly approaching the application deadline for Art Photo Bcn 2019, the Photography Festival that includes a Photo Fair for the activation of the artistic circuit and the incursion of new creative values, bringing the works of new authors closer to the general and specialized public.

Our goal is to approach professional and amateur people the work of emerging photographers and the cultural agents that represent them. Towards this point we develope all the activities of the 6th Edition of Art Photo Bcn from May 3 to 5, 2019 in Arts Santa Mònica, one of the best locations of the city at the beginning of La Rambla. This new location allows us to grow as an event, consolidate in the city as well as ensure the influx of national and international public.

We believe in the relevance of photography in the contemporary artistic production, that’s why we focus all ours activities on this. Often, the majority of projects and works that have internacional significance, haven’t the platform’s support, as have reported lots of emerging photographer. With our multifaceted event, we want to get the people involved in contemporary photography, making this festival a model and hoping that could become a point of inflection in artists’s careers and be useful to canalize their projects. Our event support the emerging creatives and try to be a showcase for the next works.

Come to join the VI edition

The call for exhibitors is open for physical and online galleries, managers and curators as well as institutions and exhibition halls that propose a project based on current photography. From September to March 28, the projects received by the selection committee are studied. Registration is done through the online form by registering a maximum of 3 authors per exhibitor and with a registration fee of 200€, which will be deducted from the both price. In the case of not being selected, this amount will be refunded.

Selected exhibitors have to pay a price of 1,200€ + VAT per both (may present a maximum of 3 artists). The payment of the both must be made before April 10, 2018. The space will be structured to accommodate a maximum of 20 exhibitors with boths of 9 linear meters. In the price is included lighting, 20 VIP passes and the double page at the catalog.

During the fair, we offer guided tours for collectors and institutions in our VIP plan. We have the support of Fundación Foto Colectania, Soho House Barcelona and the MACBA to create the VIP program, as well as a department specifically formed to attract this potential buyer. There is also a special program for the media and blogs invited during the event maximizing the visibility of all exhibitors.

Our fair format allows exhibitors to risk and publicize their new values ​​in a space created expressly for this purpose. For this sixth edition we put special emphasis on attracting foreign collectors who have special interest in the acquisition of works by new authors.

Growing as a specialized fair. We intend to grow in the number of exhibitors, from the 12 of the last edition to 20. Creating online activity throughout the year for greater visibility of our participants. We propose a constant online presence for our exhibitors through our new website and in social media of the contents that are developed during the year. Creating community through photography.

ART PHOTO BCN es un Festival de Fotografía que incluye una sección de Feria para la activación del circuito artístico y la incursión de nuevos valores creativos acercando al público general y especializado las obras de nuevos autores y autoras. Nuestro objetivo es dar a conocer y afianzar el trabajo de fotógrafos emergentes y los agentes culturales que los representan. Hacia este punto señalan todas las actividades que desarrollaremos dentro de la VI Edición de Art Photo Bcn del 3 al 5 de mayo de 2019 en Arts Santa Mònica, uno de los espacios mejor situados de la ciudad en el inicio de La Rambla. Esta nueva ubicación nos permite crecer como evento, consolidarnos en la ciudad así como asegurar la afluencia de público nacional e internacional.

Centramos toda la actividad a la fotografía actual para demostrar la importancia de este medio en la producción artística del momento. Con el formato fresco de una feria de fotografía emergente proponemos un evento especializado que se acerque al público general piezas de creadores emergentes, esperando que sea un punto de inflexión en la carrera de estos creadores y que sirva para dar a conocer y canalizar su trabajo dentro del circuito internacional. Apoyamos el trabajo de los creadores del futuro y servimos de escaparate para sus proyectos presentes.

Dossier Expositores

Ven a participar en la VI edición

La convocatoria para expositores está abierta para galerías físicas y online, gestores y comisarios así como instituciones y salas de exposiciones que propongan un proyecto fundamentado en la fotografía actual. Desde septiembre hasta el 28 de marzo, se estudian los proyectos recibidos por parte del comité de selección.

La inscripción se realiza a través del formulario online inscribiendo un máximo de 3 autores por expositor y con un coste de inscripción de 200€ que se descontará del precio del stand. En el caso de no ser seleccionado se reembolsará este importe. Los expositores seleccionados deben pagar un precio por stand de 1.200 € + IVA (pudiendo presentar un máximo de 3 artistas). El pago del stand debe realizarse antes del 10 de abril de 2018. Se estructurará el espacio para acoger un máximo de 20 expositores con stands de 9 metros lineales. Se incluye la iluminación, 20 pases VIP y la inclusión en el catálogo a doble página.

Durante la feria se realizan una serie de visitas guiadas para coleccionistas e instituciones. Contamos con el apoyo de la Fundación Foto Colectania, Soho House Barcelona y Fundació MACBA para confeccionar el programa VIP, así como un departamento expresamente formado para atraer este público potencial comprador. También se realiza un programa especial para los medios y blogs invitados durante el evento maximizando la visibilidad de todos los asistentes.

Nuestro formato de feria permite a los expositores arriesgar y dar a conocer sus nuevos valores en un espacio creado expresamente con este objetivo. Para esta sexta edición ponemos especial énfasis en atraer coleccionistas extranjeros que tengan especial interés en la adquisición de obra de nuevos autores.

El montaje de los stands tendrá lugar el jueves 2 de mayo de 9 a 21h, pudiendo hacer la entrada de obras en días previos si se necesitase siempre que este envío se coordine con la organización. A la entrada se entregará un welcome pack a los participantes con 4 pases de expositor, 20 invitaciones, impresos de salida de obra, así como 4 catálogos. Se pondrá a disposición de los expositores un espacio para guardar embalajes y materiales diversos. También podrán tener acceso a un datáfono para el cobro con tarjeta a un porcentaje del 5%. El desmontaje se realizará el domingo 6 de mayo de 20 a 22h pudiendo seguir el lunes 7 de mayo de 9 a 15h.

Cada edición hemos ido creciendo en número de expositores y visitantes, un crecimiento reducido pero constante sin dejar de ser el evento de escala humana que pretendemos ser. Un total de 1.600 personas visitaron la feria de Art Photo Bcn en su quinta edición. La entrada tiene un precio de venta de 3€. Los invitados VIP tienen, además de la visita comentada, un catálogo de obsequio.

Creciendo como Feria especializada. Pretendemos crecer en el número de expositores, de los 12 de la pasada edición a 20, crecimiento que nos permite nuestra nueva ubicación en el Arts Santa Mònica, en pleno corazón de La Rambla. Creando actividad online todo el año para una mayor visibilidad de nuestros participantes. ART PHOTO BCN és un Festival de Fotografia que inclou una de Fira per a l’activació del circuit artístic i la incursió de nous valors creatius acostant al públic general i especialitzat les obres de nous autors i autores. El nostre objectiu és donar a conèixer i refermar la feina de fotògrafs emergents i els agents culturals que els representen. Cap a aquest punt assenyalen totes les activitats que desenvoluparem dins de la VI Edició d´Art Photo Bcn del 3 al 5 de maig de 2019 a l´Arts Santa Mònica, un dels espais millor situats de la ciutat al naixement de La Rambla. Aquesta nova ubicació ens permet creixer com esdeveniment, consolidar-nos a la ciutat així com assegurar l´afluència de públic nacional i internacional.

Centrem tota l’activitat a la fotografia actual per demostrar la importància d’aquest mitjà en la producció artística del moment. Amb el format fresc d’una fira de fotografia emergent proposem un esdeveniment especialitzat que s’acosti al públic general peces de creadors emergents, esperant que sigui un punt d’inflexió en la carrera d’aquests creadors i que serveixi per donar a conèixer i canalitzar el seu treball dins del circuit internacional. Donem suport al treball dels creadors del futur i servim d’aparador per als seus projectes presents.

Vine a participar a la VI edició

La convocatòria per a expositors està oberta per galeries físiques i online, gestors i comissaris així com institucions i sales d’exposicions que proposin un projecte fonamentat en la fotografia actual. Des de setembre fins al 28 de març, s’estudien els projectes rebuts per part del comitè de selecció. La inscripció es realitza a través del formulari online inscrivint un màxim de 3 autors per expositor i amb un cost d’inscripció de 200 € que es descomptarà del preu de l’estand. En el cas de no ser seleccionat es reemborsarà aquest import.

Els expositors seleccionats han de pagar un preu per estand de 1.200 € + IVA (podent presentar un màxim de 3 artistes). El pagament de l’estand s’ha de fer abans del 10 d’abril de 2018. S’estructurarà l’espai per acollir un màxim de 20 expositors amb estands de 9 metres lineals. S’inclou la il·luminació, 20 passis VIP i la inclusió en el catàleg a doble pàgina.

Durant la fira es realitzen una sèrie de visites guiades per a col·leccionistes i institucions. A cada edició hem anat creixent en nombre d’expositors i visitants, un creixement reduït però constant sense deixar de ser l’esdeveniment d’escala humana que pretenem ser. Un total de 1.600 persones van visitar la fira de Art Photo Bcn en la seva cinquena edició. L’entrada té un preu de venda de 3 €. Els convidats VIP tenen, a més de la visita comentada presentant als expositors,, un catàleg d’obsequi.

EMBARRAT – Festival. Deadline: Mar. 10, 2019

OPEN CALL

The modernist buildings that house the Trepat Museum in Tàrrega, origin of the social and industrial transformation of the lands of Lleida, will be the venue of the third iteration of EMBARRAT – Festival of Contemporary Creation. The main objectives of this event are to disseminate throughout society the concept of art and thought as critical and engaged attitudes, and to incentivize artistic creation and promote cultural heritage.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

The call is open to individual artists or artist groups.
All participants must be adults, but may be of any nationality.
Residents outside the European Union may participate only with audiovisual works.

The works must touch on the proposed theme: “The progress”.
Submissions can consist in artworks of any discipline: video art, performance, photography, audio, installations, illustration, etc.
Participants may submit one work, or a set of works under a single title.

It is the curator’s responsibility to make the final selection of projects and artists and to determine the appropriate exhibition space for each artwork.
In addition to the artistic criteria, the curator will consider the conceptual rigor of each project, its adjustability to the proposed topic (disused) and the feasibility of adapting the artistic proposal to Museu Trepat’s exhibiting spaces.
The artists will assume the cost of the work production.
The festival will assume shipping costs.

PARALLEL OPEN CALL. DEADLINE: MARCH 31, 2019

RULES OF ENTRY

This call aims to select 30 new artists and 6 new curators working with photography who will participate in the PARALLEL Platform 3rd Cycle, occurring between September 2019 and November 2020. 

Those selected will be taking part in an innovative creative process, from the very beginning to the moment of the exhibition, together with 36 other new curators and artists. The jurors are looking for new curators who satisfy the following criteria:

– are in the early stages of their career; 

– show significant artistic potential; 

– have an artistic engaged with contemporary discourse; 

– haven’t yet attained international recognition;

– have had NO MORE than 3 individual exhibitions in a museum/gallery/festival (ARTISTS);

– have had NO MORE than 6 collective exhibitions in a museum/gallery/festival (ARTISTS);

– have curated NO MORE than 3 exhibitions in a museum/gallery/festival (CURATORS).

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

The call is open internationally to new artists and new curators of all ages working with photography. The selection will take into account gender balance and overall diversity. There’s no compulsory theme, all work is appreciated.

PARALLEL working language is English; therefore all applicants must understand, speak, read and write in English.

PhotoIreland Festival 2019: Call for Proposals. Deadline: Mar. 17, 2019

PhotoIreland Foundation invites individuals and organisations to come forward with proposals for the PhotoIreland Festival 2019.

The year 2019 will see the 10th edition of the PhotoIreland Festival bringing to Dublin an ambitious programme running from May to July. May will see the opening of the main exhibitions, while June will be dedicated to an extended educational programme with activities for all. The fireworks are reserved for July, when PhotoIreland Foundation will open the Museum of Contemporary Photography of Ireland in Dublin city centre, on the 4th July. More details will be released in the coming months, but in the meantime, you can find below information about the calls for proposals for the Open and the Museum Programmes.

OPEN PROGRAMME

If you are planning an event during May-June-July relating to Photography, Visual Culture, Critical Thinking, happening anywhere in Ireland, then join the festival celebrations! We welcome submissions from national and international individuals and organisations. All possible formats for events such as exhibitions, installations, performances, films, videos, talks, workshops, etc. are welcome.

All participants must submit their proposals before the strict deadline. Participant events will be featured in the festival catalogue and on the website, promoted through the festival’s social media, and will receive festival catalogues to distribute during the event. The catalogues are also distributed by us nationwide to key locations.
Strict Deadline: midnight 17 March 2019.

MUSEUM PROGRAMME

To make 2019 more special, we are opening a call for individuals and organisations to come forward with proposals to be included in the educational programme. There is no fee for submitting proposals, and those selected will receive financial and logistics support.

The Museum of Contemporary Photography of Ireland is a practice based research project run by PhotoIreland Foundation that aims to create the ideal prototype space to actively engage with Visual Culture and Critical Thinking today. Over the next years, the museum will present an evolving model that will publicly investigate experimental and critical propositions in aspects relating to Museology, Curation, Cultural Policy and Arts Management.

The research sets an important departure towards a new arena where Art and cultural practices and their socio-political context can be both enjoyed and examined in a richly participatory way, with the use of contemporary methodologies. This project is part of the Critical Academy ongoing research on ‘Photography in Ireland’.

We welcome proposals towards the educational programme for events that will run between 5-30 July 2019, broadly focused on the aforementioned topics of Visual Culture, Critical Thinking, Museology, Curation, Cultural Policy, Arts Management, as much as those aimed at promoting Visual Literacy and Art skills through active participation and Art making.

La Comunidad de Madrid convoca la II edición del concurso Fotolibro<40, un certamen que tiene como objetivo apoyar y promocionar la joven fotografía de autor española a través de la edición, publicación y distribución de un libro de referencia con el proyecto ganador

Bases para participar en la convocatoria:

  1. Podrán participar cualquier fotógrafo o colectivo de nacionalidad española menor de 40 años
  2. El tema de los trabajos presentados es libre y el trabajo debe ser inédito, no habiendo sido publicado nunca en formato libro.
  3. Los participantes deberán enviar un dossier que contenga:
    • Breve explicación del proyecto e imágenes de la sobras y un CV del fotógrafo
    • Una serie de fotografías ilustrativas del proyecto
  4. No se aceptarán propuestas que no cumplan los requisitos solicitados en las bases de la convocatoria

Call for Applications: Artistic Research PhD Programme

Application deadline: February 21, 2019 / Programme start: October 2019

The University of Applied Arts Vienna invites potential candidates to apply for the Artistic Research PhD Programme (PhD in Art). In addition to providing proof of qualification in terms of artistic development candidates must also submit a written exposé outlining their planned activity within the field of artistic research. The six-semester programme of study in the field of art, conducted in English, is set up around themes and practices of artistic research. The thesis consists of an artistic work as well as a reflexive documentation of the knowledge gain yielded by the project.

Of particular importance among the selection criteria are up-to-dateness, innovation potential and the potential social relevance of the planned artistic research activity, as well as the demonstration of knowledge of the national and international research context. Doctoral candidates are overseen by professors at the Angewandte – who are recommended by the same commission that is responsible for their selection.

The documents for the admission procedure (CV, portfolio, exposé, all in English) should be sent no later than February 21, 2019 in PDF format (surname_cv.pdf, surname_port.pdf, surname_exp.pdf) via email under the subject heading “surname Participation PhDArt” to zff@uni-ak.ac.at. The PDF may contain links for downloading relevant material in widely used digital formats. The attachments themselves should not exceed a data volume of 10 MB. The results of the application process will be communicated to applicants by August 2019 at the latest.
