CONCURSO FOTOLIBRO<40
La Comunidad de Madrid convoca la II edición del concurso Fotolibro<40, un certamen que tiene como objetivo apoyar y promocionar la joven fotografía de autor española a través de la edición, publicación y distribución de un libro de referencia con el proyecto ganador

Bases para participar en la convocatoria:

  1. Podrán participar cualquier fotógrafo o colectivo de nacionalidad española menor de 40 años
  2. El tema de los trabajos presentados es libre y el trabajo debe ser inédito, no habiendo sido publicado nunca en formato libro.
  3. Los participantes deberán enviar un dossier que contenga:
    • Breve explicación del proyecto e imágenes de la sobras y un CV del fotógrafo
    • Una serie de fotografías ilustrativas del proyecto
  4. No se aceptarán propuestas que no cumplan los requisitos solicitados en las bases de la convocatoria

Call for Applications: Artistic Research PhD Programme

The University of Applied Arts Vienna invites potential candidates to apply for the Artistic Research PhD Programme (PhD in Art). In addition to providing proof of qualification in terms of artistic development candidates must also submit a written exposé outlining their planned activity within the field of artistic research. The six-semester programme of study in the field of art, conducted in English, is set up around themes and practices of artistic research. The thesis consists of an artistic work as well as a reflexive documentation of the knowledge gain yielded by the project.

Of particular importance among the selection criteria are up-to-dateness, innovation potential and the potential social relevance of the planned artistic research activity, as well as the demonstration of knowledge of the national and international research context. Doctoral candidates are overseen by professors at the Angewandte – who are recommended by the same commission that is responsible for their selection.

The documents for the admission procedure (CV, portfolio, exposé, all in English) should be sent no later than February 21, 2019 in PDF format (surname_cv.pdf, surname_port.pdf, surname_exp.pdf) via email under the subject heading “surname Participation PhDArt” to zff@uni-ak.ac.at. The PDF may contain links for downloading relevant material in widely used digital formats. The attachments themselves should not exceed a data volume of 10 MB. The results of the application process will be communicated to applicants by August 2019 at the latest.

First Mission: Reverse Brexit

Operation Earnest Voice is a propaganda office that will be hosted on the third floor of The Photographers’ Gallery in central London from 10th – 13th January 2019, accessible to both Gallery visitors and a live online audience. The first mission of the fully staffed and operational office is to reverse Brexit.

Operation Earnest Voice takes its name from a US sponsored campaign with the same name, whose purpose is to spread pro-American propaganda on social networking sites, by relying on sockpuppets (an online identity used for the purpose of deception), to among many things comment and derail online conversations, with the goal of influencing and swaying the public opinion. The propaganda office Operation Earnest Voice will use the same and similar tools and strategies to influence the public.

A group of 12 office workers will be hired for their expertise, ranging from copy writers, image/meme makers, to programmers and social media strategists. Between the 10th and 13th of January, the 12 workers come together to work with one political goal in mind, to collaboratively develop a media narrative / campaign to reverse Brexit by using a wide range of tactics to manipulate the public opinion, and create new narratives that aim to disrupt the current political debate.

COMPETITION DESCRIPTION

Being described as “One of the best photography festivals in the world” (Capture Magazine), the biennial Belfast Photo Festival provided the perfect platform for gaining exposure to an international audience, with previous editions having welcome over 100,000 visitors from all over the world.

Belfast Photo Festival is offering artist’s/photographers the opportunity to exhibit their work in the main Festival gallery alongside some of the biggest names in the field of photography and have their work taken on tour to be exhibited at the 2020 Photo Schwiez (Zurich, Switzerland), with a number also having the opportunity to be featured in the arts magazines Abridged and GUP. The winners will be eligible for a number of awards, including a cash prize of €1,127 (est $1,286 / £1,000).

The theme has been left open to remove any restrictions; submissions must be photographic or lens-based but can include incorporations of other art forms with the photographic medium (i.e. performance, painting, sculpture, music, literature etc).

Individuals and collectives are welcome to apply; individuals should select and enter between 1 and 15 photographs from a particular series or body of work AND/OR submit their Photo-book for exhibition by providing a link to a single PDF (stored on for example: Google Drive or Dropbox)

(Note: You can submit both a photo-book and photographs of the same project, but a fee will need to be paid for both. If submitting only a Photo-book and not photographs, it will be your photo-book that will be selected for presentation and not photographic prints for exhibition)

Collectives are also welcome to apply; as a collective, you can submit up to 15 photographs (a €22 / €29 submission fee will apply for every 15 images submitted)

Each year our Open Submission award-winners receive international press coverage from publications and media outlets around the world. This kind of press exposure can lead to viral, global recognition of your work.

The European Master of Contemporary Photography, which is going into its ninth Edition in April 2019. They offer a practical and innovative training in a unique master program, where you can develop your personal project, coached by our team of tutors and teachers of international fame: Martin Parr, Joan FontcubertaSimon Roberts or Andreas Müller-Pohle, to name just a few.

PRIZE: Two scholarships covering 50% of the tuition fees, equivalent to 5.375 euros.

Odesa Photo Days Call. Deadline: Dec. 16, 2018

“Standoint” exposition is a combination of authors’ visions of versatility of the world and multiple ways for comprehending reality. We accept photo series of any stylistics: documentary, reportage, fiction, fantasies. We proritize author’s story and originality, expression integrity.

Each author can only submit one photo series for the contest.
