The recent history of contemporary photography and the photobook has undeniably been shaped by Spanish photographers, curators and bookmakers. After the fabulous workshop with Cristina de Middel and Ricardo Cases in India, this time it will be Nicolás Combarro in Manila.
Nicolás is the man who helped Alberto García Alix include video in his work, and a curator involved in Contemporary Spanish photography. As an artist, he uses lens-based and other media in a virtuous dialog, to create installations and interventions in the public space. But most of all, he is an incredible teacher who will show students how to find their own way of expressing themselves in their art, how to go from the single image to a body of work, how to compose a coherent narrative, and how to present all this, in a professional way, to curators and the public. In other words, if you sign up for this workshop, be prepared to forget pretty much everything you knew and take some good days of rest before, because it will be very very intense.
